Local favorite, Pork and Mindy's added to Wrigley Field's Culinary Lineup
February 21, 2017
On opening day, a World Championship banner won’t be the only thing Cubs fans will be drooling over. Wicker Park and Bucktown favorite, Pork and Mindy’s, will be serving their famous slow smoked pork shoulder sandwiches inside the friendly confines. The “creative eatery” will open up on Platform 14 near the newly renovated Budweiser Bleachers.

This addition falls in line with the franchise’s new focus on creating ties with local vendors. Allen Hermeling, senior director of corporate partnership for the Chicago Cubs, explained, "Interest (from local vendors) is higher than it's ever been... We certainly don't lack for demand at this point. For us, it's about making sure we're entering into business with the right partners." It is a win-win for both sides as local eateries can capitalize on the team's brand and gain national recognition, while the Cubs strengthen their reach in the community.
Celebrity Chef Jeff Mauro, co-founder of Pork and Mindy’s, opened the Bucktown location last January. Mauro is currently the host of Food Network’s “Sandwich King” and was instrumental in initiating the partnership. The Wrigley location will offer a few of their signature sandwiches, including the Bao to the Pork, as well as other items at kiosks throughout the stadium.
Pork and Mindy's joins other Chicago cult favorite, Hot Doug's, in the bleachers, making it one of the most sought after stadium sections for foodies. Though fortunately for the rest of the park, some of the sandwiches will be available in other areas of the stadium.
